I do not understand why most chinese restaurants have a $10 min for credit cards. If you do please state that on your menu. I placed an order for pickup and was not made aware of the $10 min. I found out when I went to pay for my food. I didn't have any cash, so she took my card with a stank look on her face. I ordered the mongolian beef lunch special. Well there was barely any beef and they only give you half the rice than every other chinese restaurant. The lunch special was cheap at $5 and some change, but it wasn't that good and it didn't fill me up. Isn't chinese food suppose to fill you up? I will never come here for lunch again.

Food was good but the service was long. I ordered out and waited for nearly an hour. This is my second time ordering from their and wished their service was a bit better. Receptionist needs to be more informative and clear on her replies

I had this place once. It was delicious, and then I was hungry in an hour. I'm going to be totally honest here. Perhaps I'm biased because I've been there so much more, but The King and I right next-door is incredible. It's deceitful because it says it's a Thai restaurant, but if you're looking for Chinese food on Marion, you should probably go to The King and I instead of Luo's Peking House.

Luo's peking house is fast, reasonably priced, and they deliver. Food is.... Good. It's nothing too special but it is a good Chinese takeout place. I did not enjoy the Orange chicken, it was soggy. The Fried rice is delicious. Got this chicken/corn chowder soup, try it! It's very light, like an egg drop soup with corn but something different and the corn makes it a little sweet.

I think I've ordered delivery there for the last time. The BBQ Pork was tough, the Crispy Duck was like Duck Jerky, and to top it off I specifically asked for a total when I was on the phone ordering. They said a total, so I prepared some cash to include tip. Then when the delivery guy arrived not too long after, he looks at me like I'm the idiot because it was 3 dollars more than what I was told on the phone (and I wrote it down). Almost $29 for 2 appetizers and an entree?? Forget it. My jaws are still a little sore! PS- I've ordered from there for years, but no more!

Excerpt from 'Rush Hour': Chris Tucker (as Det. James Carter): Damn Chen, dis some greasy shit! You ain't got no better food like some chicken wings, some baby back-ribs, some fries or something? (Streetside Chinese food vendor) Chen: This Chinese food! No soul food here! Carter: I ain't say nothing about no soul food. I said ain't you got some better food? I don't want that greasy shit. How you gonna sell a big box of grease? Chen: Fung geneo bunkwain! Carter: I'm a chilly what? Chen: I'm no punk bitch! Carter: I ain't no punk bitch neither! After careful consideration, I came to the conclusion that Luo's Kung Pao chicken is exactly what Chris Tucker got in 'Rush Hour'--a big box of grease. How bad was it? The grease from the NOT microwave-safe (metal staples) take-home container went thru its own box, a paper bag, a wad of napkins....and onto my futon mattress, for which there is now a noticeable stain that smells like chili oil. Although it's not the --worst-- stain on my bed, it's the most recent, and is enough for me to not want to order from Luo's anymore. Egg drop soup was good. Crab rangoons were solid. Communication difficulties over the phone (all I understood was 'egg drop', 'your total $11.50') and a disappointing entree leave me wanting better Chinese. I ain't no punk bitch!.....which is why I'll be henceforth ordering my takeaway from Katy's Dumpling.

First place i ordered Chinese in Oak Park and been going back for more ever since. used to live within a stones throw so it was my Friday night Staple, but have since moved and discovered New Star, but recently dined in for lunch at Luo's and fell in love all over. The lunch special coms with soup and egg roll with your entree, and the entree portion is very generous. Orange chicken, Cashew Shrimp and Kung Po Shrimp wee all flavorful, plentiful and just good. Have always loved their egg rolls.

Fried rice was delicious. Super hot when I got it. Crab Rangoon had a pretty thick wonton shell and maybe not enough filling for me, but was tasty. Delivery was fast on a Saturday night.

This is the ONLY place to get chinese around Oak Park. The lunch special is spectacular, with the chicken corn soup I dream about, and an egg roll that comes with your meal. But I also like ordering for dinner here, it's reasonably priced and the delivery is fast. I consistently order the crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, the soup mentioned above, and almond cookies...mmmm. But my cohorts tell me great things about the beef, orange chicken, etc etc etc. The beef appetizer on a stick is delish, And I have friends who routinely steal my egg rolls. This is our favorite chinese place and I always end up back here. YUM

I would be lying if I said I've lived a long life, but in the time I have been on this earth, I have eaten a lot - a LOT - of Chinese food, all over the country. And I will always regard Lou's as my favorite Chinese restaurant. I've been eating from here literally my entire life, I was born and raised in Oak Park by parents who have lived here for 25 years and know a thing or two about food. If it's my decision to eat Chinese, I'm eating Lou's. A small, dive-y, whole in the wall place, with friendly staff and delicious food. It's not expensive, the dishes are more than enough to share, the food is fast and hot. It's quintessential Chinese food to me. I work at an Asian restaurant in the loop, and we are regarded to have "the best crab rangoon in the city", and in my opinion, I would rather have Lou's any day.

Great food and excellent service even on a busy Valentines day last minute! The orange chicken is great, and the egg rolls are delicious! Glad to have finally found good Chinese food so close to home.

Eh. I've had better. I really liked the egg drop soup, but the chicken and veggies I ordered was very bland and had way too much soupy sauce. I'm used to bigger dinner portions, but I guess it was pretty cheap. I might come back again and get something different, just because they were pretty fast and cheap, but not my favorite.

I'm a fan of Luo Peking! My first time visiting today and I will definitely be back. I ordered the chicken and vegetable lunch special which included an eggroll and fried rice all for under $6. The portion was very satisfying and the food delicious. I was especially impressed that it wasn't greasy, which is a plus in my book. Next time I'm in downtown Oak Park, I'll be back again.

The category for this restaurant is definitely not Szechuan. It's Chinese - Cantonese, Chinese American style. My husband and I came here yesterday for some Chinese food. We didn't want to drive to Chinatown, and good Chinese food is hard to find around our area. It was pretty quiet when we arrive. Our waitress was nice. She filled our water many times and came to check up on us. I ordered the chow tee (which is beef chow fun) and my husband ordered the rainbow fried rice. I felt the chow tee was pretty oily. Taste wise it was okay, could be better. My husband's fried rice was a little below average. We also had velvet chicken corn soup. I could taste it was loaded with corn starch because of the thickness. Less corn and chicken.,,,mostly liquids. A bit disappointed here, but oh well...didn't have high expectations anyway.

I'm really picky about Chinese food. I think the food delicious. They start you off with a bowl of soup (cream of corn and chicken). I enjoy the soup while i wait for my appetizers usually veggie rolls and pot stickers. My favorite dish is their chicken with noodles (spicy).

We decided to try Luo's despite the less than spectacular reviews posted here on Yelp. After several visits I can confirm, Oak Park Yelpers are a weird bunch. I want to start this review by pointing out two things: -This is not authentic, legit Chinese food. This is the delicious Americanized cuisine -I have yet to find a Chinese place in Chicago, no, Illinois, that I enjoy. Enter Luo's. I've now been here several times in a very short three week span, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The service is extremely friendly and the food has always tasted extremely fresh. We've tried a variety of dishes -- the twice cooked pork, mu shu pork, lemon chicken.. all very tasty! And lunch specials! I'm not clear on what lunch hours are, but they seem to offer them every day. The last time we went (about 2:30pm on Saturday) my entree arrived with fried rice and an egg roll. All for less than $5? Amazing. Hands down the best crab rangoon I've eaten. By far the most impressive was the time I ordered mu shu pork. Our server (who also seemed like possibly the owner?) brought it out and proceeded to make up two wraps using a pair of spoons as tongs. I've never seen this before in my life and was awkwardly impressed.

Luo's is our go-to Chinese food place in Oak Park. I order the Kung Pao chicken or shrimp which always has an abundance of meat in it and is spicy! Just the way I like it. I try to go at lunch where I get the Kung Pao, a cup of egg-drop soup, a crab ragoon (optional egg roll) and a can of pop for $7.85. And their crab-ragoon is the best I've ever had, anywhere. Homemade. Not like those frozen and fried places. My husband gets Empress Chicken which is a house special of big chunks of chicken breaded and fried and covered in some sweet sauce with a spicy kick. Tasty, but the chunks are too large for me and I like to imagine I'm the healthier eater with my Kung Pao choice. My son likes the egg-rolls stuffed with fresh veges. I've never had it delivered. I either eat in or we pick it up since it takes, consistently, 15 minutes. Admittedly, the interior is gross. They need to upgrade.

Came here on a whim with a friend because we wanted Chinese food. First of all, the sign outside says "Best Chinese cuisine in town." Are you kidding me? We ordered vegetarian/vegan fried rice, and tofu. All without egg. Pretty simple. The rice was very bland and greasy and the tofu was not at all cooked. It gave us stomach aches afterwards. And the atmosphere was just strange. The waitress was very nice though which is why I'm giving them two stars! Will definitely not be back.

Having grown up in Oak Park I've frequently visited here before I left for college. The people who work here have always been kind and accommodating to me and my friends. It typically isn't too crowded when I come with my friends and the wait is never long for out food. The lunch deals are the perfect amount of food and when I come for dinner I typically have leftovers. My favorite little gem is that although it isn't on the menu they have delicious egg drop soup. I always get a bowl when I come here.

I used to really like eating at Luo's when I lived in Oak Park. I decided to give their delivery a try since we moved a bit further north into the City. Mistake. It literally took the husband about 15 minutes to place a simple order and he had to spell the name of the street about 6 times, then they called back to ask how far this was from Roosevelt. 1. The resturant is nowhere near Roosevelt and 2. There is no part of Chicago near Oak Park Avenue and Chicago and you were already told we were in Chicago. Ugh. So, I should not have ben surprised when the food arrived and we received two orders of fried rice instead of one and one egg foo young. I just let it go and figured I could eat the other on another day. Husband ordered some noodle dishes and they were really weird and the fried rice was mushy - not the light fare I remembered. Guess we'll stick with the normal places around us from now on.

The fish and vegetables are pretty delicious in general. Just the fish has a little too much starch wrapping but not matter much. Plus it's quite nutritious and healthy!

I came for lunch and ordered the house special fried rice which cost $4.95 which includes a well flavored corn soup and a spring roll for appetizers. It was a good bang for the buck. I loved the fried rice in this place - the rice is sufficiently dry, roasted and fried with fresh ingredients - chicken, beef and shrimp together with onions, peas, eggs. Very tasty. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, the fried rice is quite flavorful and well seasoned. Tasted great. The staff was attentive and came three times to fill up to the cup with water. Will come back again for the house special fried rice and for lunch.

Our first attempt if Chinese food since moving from California and I must say we were very happy. The price was right on point, and the quality was amazing. We got dumplings, hot and sour soup, mu sho vegetables, vegetable chow mein, and broccoli and beef. Everything was delicious and we will be going back there for sure.

Can I leave negative stars? No? Oh, well. It's 8:03p, and our delivery was supposed to be here at 6:56p. We've each tried calling, and each time the person who answers clearly says "Hello, how can I help you?" in English. As soon as we say our order is really late, she starts speaking very fast in some super thick accent (but it's the same person??) that "food coming-food coming-so sorry!" Super weird. How hard is it to call and just say, "I'm so sorry, but we're running very behind, and your order will be delivered closer to 90 min." Oh, cause then we'd cancel the order. But hey, what are we doing now anyway? That's right, cancelling an order. Oh, and we're also just now starting to make dinner for our kids as we'd thought they'd be eating by now. So, now they've got a cancelled order, plus some pretty irate customers who are also now leaving a 1 star review. We've ordered from them in the past and liked it, but won't ever again since it turned into a "will they come?" gamble. Too bad. UPDATE: At 8:20, we got a call that the delivery person was outside. We looked and no one's there. He's wandering down the street. Needless to say, the food is cold, and who knows when it was made, at 5:30p or 7:30p. Guess they plan on the microwave being part our dining experience.

I will definitely keep Luo's in mind if I'm ever pregnant with quadruplets, which is the only explanation for my ever craving something so random that I'd actually eat here again. Where to start? Maybe with my ignored delivery instructions? I had a three year old down for a nap and specifically noted for the delivery man NOT to ring the doorbell. Guess who had a short nap that day? I was willing to overlook the begrudging delivery driver's poor service in light of my highly anticipated sesame chicken, but as it turned out, customer service is the least of Luo's problems. My chicken not only tasted terribly like chemically addressed sesame oil; it was also so soggy the fried skin wasn't attached to the nuggets of fowl. So gross. Skip this place. Save yourself a dollar.

Decent food & fast delivery. Something was missing from my order, but I called & the delivery guy came back & delivered double of the missing item. Would order again.

Been going here for years. But I had a spectacularly bad meal tonight. Tasteless soup with all canned veggies, soggy dumpling thing that wasn't cooked through, and then a super greasy, salty, and otherwise tasteless noodle dish. The egg rolls have always been bad, but other things were fine, even good, and fresh. Nothing fresh tonight. So, this place is too up and down for me, I don't think I'll be back, except maybe for lunch when all I care about is soup and fried rice. Generally, I love a hole in the wall, if the food is really super, but not if the food is crummy. Surely, in this area, they could spruce up the food or the decor or both a bit. And now I'm still hungry-- didn't bother to bring the leftovers (and there were a lot) home. Sad to be so down on Luo's, I have enjoyed it in times past and used to be a fan.

Well I am back to lou's..............Not that its great but its the only one in the area that's any good. Katy's was a bust, no flavor, bland. Szechwan Beijing use to be top dog till their cooks changed and now everything taste like vingar. Lou's has always been good to OK, not great. They get a little too happy with the green peppers and you have to tell them what you want from the dishes. Good to OK food, cheap prices, good lunch specials...........

  • Ali G.

This place is the worst. I dont know how you mess up fried rice, but they did. I ordered to go cuz I was looking for something quick. I thought that the "lunch" deal was awesome because you get a cheese wonton or an egg roll. I dont eat pork so I asked for the wonton and of course- they gave me the egg roll and I didnt realize it til I opened the box. I'll never go again.

Meh, nothing special. Everything sort of tasted the same. Not the cleanest place either. Won't be back.

  • Pieter W.

Pretty standard-fare Chinese food. Not bad for Oak Park, but it certainly can't compete with Chinatown. The hot and sour soup was pretty delicious, as other reviewers have mentioned, and the Governor's Chicken was pretty tasty. The egg-roll was downright disgusting however, served undercooked and lukewarm. No complaints about the service, the waitress was very friendly. It's just a standard Chinese food place geared toward pleasing the average American palate, so set your expectations accordingly, and head to either Chinatown or Katy's Dumpling House just around the corner if you want to spend a little more scratch for the real deal.

  • Keith B.

I really love this place. It's not the best food but the combo of the untouched, 1950's décor and the family staff and the incredibly cheap prices and the cushy booths and the aquarium -- it's one of the last, real places in Oak Park and deserves to be supported. Check out the porthole window and door hardware on the way in.

Delicious fried rice, soup, Governor's chicken. Everything I've tried there has been delicious, the staff are friendly as well.

Dropped in a couple times to this place (which made me the Duke?). My first visit to this place was satisfactory. So the next time I was in the area and had a hankering for Chinese, I didn't hesitate to drop in. I ordered a soft drink while perusing the menu which came in a can accompanied by a glass with ice. SURPRISE! Right before my eyes Periplaneta americana crept from the icy depths of my drinking vessel and circled proudly about the rim. We exited immediately. Forever.

Luo's is our go-to take out place. It's nothing special but it satisfies that cheap Chinese food craving. I've never had anything I didn't enjoy. This place is unpretentious and I love it. Also love that they're on grubhub.

  • Hans L.

I've been coming to Luo's for years. It's Americanized Chinese food. It's not the best food you'll ever eat, but it's been consistently good. It's a "joint" more than anything. One does need to see past the bad decor and run down condition of the place (the tiny bathroom with the slanted floor is either a disaster or quaint, depending upon your outlook on life.) But I can feed a family of 4 on $40, and feed them well.

    (4)
  • John M.

I have lunch here pretty frequently. The lunch is a bargain and it's all pretty good. I'va had dinner there a few times, honestly, I did not think the pot stickers were any more browne than anywhere else. The egg rolls are okay. About them being rude, this has never been my experience, they are not talkative, but I prefer that myself.

    (4)
  • Rick R.

BEWARE. Terrible. We ordered takeout. Bland and flavorless. Long human hair in the Empress Chicken! I called to complain and asked for a refund. The lady refused to refund our purchase price. She said she would replace it with another order of Empress Chicken which we could drive back over and pick up!!!! Idiot. Never, ever again.

  • Mary Ann C.

I oredered delivery from here as a treat for my husband after his hectic business trip! The delivery was FAST! The food was piping hot! Better than the spots that are right around the corner from me. Moreover, the food was fresher and better prepared than the neighborhood joints. Loved the cashew shrimp, beef with broccoli, and shrimp fried rice. Plus the delivery man gave my two year old daughter a bag of cookies when he arrived. Very thoughtful!

  • Melissa T.

Sadly, I didn't find this place to be very good, yet I still found it to be one of the better places in Oak Park for Chinese food. In a 10 mile radius in and around Oak Park, I could pick between multiple good Thai establishment, but I can't find good Chinese - what gives? I ordered take out, which was relatively effort free, and got potstickers, bbq pork, twice cooked pork and another dish that I'm failing to remember. Each item was incredibly bland, and the bbq pork shouldn't be a menu item. Really, it shouldn't. Back in the good ole STL or if I went to Chinatown here, this would certainly be a 2 star review, but given the other quality of chinese in Oak Park et al, this is about as A-Ok as you can get. Until someone decides to open up truly good Chinese in Oak Park, this is an adequate place for one' s American-type Chinese craving.

  • Fumi A.

I LOVE their food. I've been coming to this restaurant for years. The staff is soo rude but I'm just used to it. I like this place because the prices are cheap. cheaper than I have ever witnessed. A pop costs .75 cents! If you go for the lunch special you can get meals for under 5 dollars! I love the food, I like that it is never crowded, the prices are amazing. I just don't like the owners but the waitresses are always nice and friendly. So If you like great Chinese food with great prices this is the place. Just dot deliver from them because they do not fill up the containers enough and they charge a lot for delivery fees, not worth it at all.

My business travels take me to different places all over the globe. I have eaten in hundreds if not thousands of Chinese restaurants and always tried the famous Sweet n Sour soup. The soup served in this establishment is second to none, especially if you like the mild flavor of vinegar. Main dishes are tasty as well and the cook will add extra heat or extra garlic or both if you ask for it. Overall - best meal in town!

  • Mike L.

I have to side with Nan. JJ and Margo below. Although the neon sign may claim; "THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN TOWN", what it should say is the ONLY 'Chinese Food in town that's barely adequate.' I didn't want to give them 1 star because the waitress last night was actually pretty nice. And yes, the hostess/cashier never smiles. I ordered Egg rolls and triple delight (Shrimp, Beef and Chicken) I requested it WELL DONE. It was not well done, and it had no flavor at all. Not too keen on the brown sauce, and the egg rolls were barely room temp and not crispy - not a good thing. They need to go to New Star in Elmwood Park and try one of their egg rolls - as dirty as New Star is, they still have a damn good egg roll, but I don't want to know what makes them taste better either....'know what I'm sayin'?' I've eaten here before but it's been over 2 years since my last visit and now I know why. Plus, Chinese Food is expensive, so when it's 'almost OK' I get a little pissed off. They also have an electrical issue - the lights flicker because there is a power overload of some sort - you almost get a little nauseous sitting in there. When I brought it to their attention - the guy played with the dimmers a little....didn't change anything. Maybe they're waiting for the place to burn down....God knows I was only one of 3 customers in there. They need to get a new chef because the whomever is cooking now is not doing them any favors. For what they are paying in rent in Oak Park, which has scared away many restaurants already and another subject altogether, they had better do something quick, otherwise I am sure there will be more reviews similar to mine.

The first time was OK. So we decided to visit this place again. Don't know how much MSG they put inside, felt so thirsty after lunch. We went there around noon on Sunday, I thought they would charge us for lunch price. After getting bill, I couldn't believe that with such a small portion, they charged us dinner price. The waitress kept pouring water for us, yes, she definitely wanted to dilute that super salty food. Never ever go there.

I grew up in Oak Park and now live blocks from Chinatown in NYC, and I have NEVER found Chinese food as good as Luo's Peking House. The Twice Cooked Pork is spicy perfection. So, so, so good.

They have some great specials here. $3.95 includes egg roll and rice. Check it out. Ask for no MSG if you are inclined. Another good find for me in Oak Park. Mostly a to-go kinda place.

This is my aunt's restaurant so I can be a bit biased can't I? Luo's is a family run business since the 90's located near downtown Oak Park. My history with this place runs deep - this is where I bussed and waited tables, delivered (and no I'm not the one that lets the food get cold), and learned to wrap Mu Shu by using 2 serving spoons as a one handed tong. The locals are very easygoing and this place compliments that with reasonably priced food. I've run into a few celebrities and politicians here time and again. Oddly enough, I tend to run into a lot of people that frequents this place from Chicago. I still come here with friends to enjoy the food - no I'm not just an ex-waiter, but I'm also a client. :) Lunch specials offer a big bang for the buck and they've really good Hot'N'Sour soup. Here's some favorites I tend to order when dining here w/ friends: Pot Stickers Asparagus Beef Governor's Chicken 3 Delicacy Seafood Delight Orange Beef Crispy Duck Mu Shu anything

  • Cindy R.

For what it is - a quick, inexpensive meal - they excel. You get soup, an eggroll, and a meal at lunch for $3.95. Can't beat the price and the lunch specials are all quite good and fast.

  • Andrew J.

Pretty standard Chinese place. I usually order my favorite dish, the Empress chicken. Half of the time it's good, and half of the time it's just okay. Given that I keep going back though, I would say that it's "good enough".

ok, i USED to like this place. the food was decent for the price and the old server, arnold, always took care of us. but, arnold got shipped back to china (apparently there was a "residency issue") and i think someone else in the family is running the place now. the last time we went here, i got my usual, the broccoli & beef lunch special. the sauce looked different, and it had a dry, congealed layer on top, like it had been sitting for quite a while...it wasn't pretty, but i took a bite--it tasted like KETCHUP and was repulsive!!!!!! i didn't eat another bite and when the new "manager" came over to take our plates, he offered to wrap things up. i declined and he asked, "was it not good?" i told him that i'd been ordering the same thing for years, but this one didn't taste the same. i asked if the recipe had changed (giving him the benefit of the doubt). he shook his head no, looked extremely angry and left. then he came back and angrily scratched the item off of our bill. he never apologized or anything, just scratched it off and stormed away. it was really uncomfortable. i won't be visiting them again...i guess i'll have to find another chinese joint to visit...

I grew up in Oak Park and always forget about Luo's. It's a shame because this place is great. On a recent trip back, I went there for dinner with my parents, and we had a fantastic meal. The décor is far from modern. The walls are paneled. The table cloths are green and white picnic pattern. It's old, but it's immaculately clean. For an appetizer, we had the crab rangoon which were excellent. Unlike most places, these actually tasted like crab. They also served them with the standard sweet and sour sauce, but also the spicy mustard sauce, which was great. Duck is typically a hit-or-miss sort of dish, but Luo's cooked it perfectly. The Crispy duck was flavorful and not at all greasy. The Lover's Nest was beautifully presented and flavorful, not buried in heavy sauce. The snap peas were actually snappy. The dining room wasn't crowded, but the takeout business was pretty consistent the whole time we were there. Definitely give this one a try.

This is the worst restaurant that I have ever eaten in.The hostess and servers were very rude. The food was watery and disgusting. I will not be returning!! For great Chinese food, try New Star restaurant in Elmwood Park il.

Very good taste, quality, no greasy. Price is fair. Delivery could be faster but the wait was worthy

So I am sitting here eating my left over "fresh" broccoli and garlic sauce under the bright lights of my cubicle desk and I am not thinking this is so very fresh. Crispy yes, green no. I am not sure why this place has signs all over about how they were rated #1 this and #1 that. It was good but not gotta-have-it-every-day good. I think what differentiates this place from other Chinese retaurants is that they dont bog it down with lots of salt - I just dont know how to process that. And to top it all off, they were out of chop sticks!!! Really?

Hello, Luo's - it's me, Mojo. Yes, I'll have the hot and sour soup, egg rolls, the orange beef, one Empress Chicken and pork fried rice. Yes ma'am, I'm in Forest Park. About 20 minutes later, hot and delicious food is at my doorstep. We do this every week, and I'm thrilled with the results, consistently. I used to live in NYC, and I love Chinese food. I know what it's supposed to look like, taste like and I love the way it's scent lingers in the elevator and hallway. Wherever I have lived, if I can find a good Chinese food place then I know I've found a home. Luo's is homey that way. There is no bad day their soup can't make better. It's not an exceptionally ornate restaurant and that is how it should be - anyone can feel comfortable there. P.S.: Don't forget to call your Mom later.

I am a fan...The food was delicious...My order was for delivery and I swear the delivery man was at my door in 20 minutes....The only negative thing that I have today is that the lady that answered the phone was very short with me...I never ordered from there before and she was a little impatient with me...but the food was great...I will order again....

I judge all Chinese restaurants by 2 things: Crab rangoon Shrimp with garlic sauce Since my mom was a virtual baking machine and the weather sucked we decided to order in for dinner; I think if we asked her to make something she would've gone postal. We ordered crab rangoon, a full order of shrimp with garlic sauce, half order of vegetarian delight, and a half order of vegetarian egg foo yung. We got it all for just shy of $25 and it was ready in only 10 minutes; sadly it took us much more than 10 minutes to clean off the car and drive over to get it. Like I said I judge all Chinese restaurants by 2 items: * Crab rangoon - 3 stars. It was just so-so, a little light on the cream cheese and crab, but heavy on the *wrapper* for my liking. * Shrimp with garlic sauce - 5 stars. Fresh tasty veggies, sauce with the perfect amount of zip, and a very generous portion of shrimp. A steal at just under $10 for a full order. There are several Chinese places to order from around my parents house, but this is the only place that makes us all happy. Bottom line: Really good, solid Chinese food at cheap prices

I honestly do not understand the positive reviews. It makes me wonder if I was in the wrong place. We ordered the pot stickers which were so burnt you could not even see the dumpling beneath the black charred coating. We then tried the house specialty noodles, the Mongolian beef and the garlic chicken. The chicken tasted horrible and had a strange after taste that I still cannot place. The beef was slightly better and the noodles were way too greasy to eat more than a bite. The rice was overcooked and not fluffy at all. The tea was really good though and the servers were very friendly and nice. The woman at the front desk was especially warm and inviting.

I love it that their staff and cooks travel here daily from China Town. It's a 'typical' Chinese restaurant, complete with a tank of (HUGE) goldfish, placemats of the Chinese zodiac and fortune cookies for the ride home. All their dishes are FABULOUS. Everything made from scratch by an expert chef (used to have a Chinese restaurant on Michigan Avenue in Chicago). LOVE their fresh cooked-from-scratch soups, entrees and side dishes. Vegetable carvings often grace the very pretty dishes. Service is sincere and very accomodating. I wish, wish, wish I could get them to offer brown rice which I think would be very popular in Oak Park. Maybe one day...!

This has to be one of the best, absolutely best Chinese Food places in the city of Oak Park. They have some of the best Rainbow Rice anywhere and the prices (espicially at lunch) are wonderful! The complimentary soup is to die for and the Oolong Tea is superior to anything I have ever tasted, anywhere else! I highly reccomend the Rainbow rice dish, If you get it as part of the lunch special, you get an egg roll and drink. Combine this with the soup and you have a great meal! This is one of those great "Diamonds in the Rough" places and I think that everyone should try it out!

We've eaten there several times...not the best, not the worst. Yes, I agree with the other comments, the hostess/cashier never smiles. As a matter of fact, she never acknowledges my presence or says "hello". I just laugh and find it quite amusing, probably just her personality, at least she's consistent. One complaint, the Mu-Shu Chicken was supposed to be wrapped in a Chinese pancake-type wrapper, but they cheated and served flour tortillas instead. I wasn't thrilled, but I was hungry and didn't put up much of a fight.

Ah, Luo's. How I miss you and your world class potstickers. I search the world over, visiting every Chinese restaurant from Chicago to Los Angeles and have yet to find your equal. When I lived in Chicago and worked in Oak Park I would stop at Luo's sometimes two or three times a week. The food is delicious, the sit-down service is quick and the spiciness is what it should be. If you ask for a 10, they'll give it you - just have your gallon of ice water ready to combat it. Love this place so much I've actually ordered pot stickers from them frozen and vacuum packed and then traveled with them cross country to my new home. If the apocalypse comes in 2012 and I haven't made it back to Oak Park for my last order of chicken in garlic sauce, extra spicy, no mushrooms or onions & 2 orders of potstickers . . .I know I have those lovely dumplings in the freezer as my last meal.

it's typical fare, but worth it if only for far less greasy/syrupy chinese food than you usually find in the states.

I really like this place. Sit-down Chinese restaurants are a dying breed, but this place has stood the test of time! The sizzling rice soups are good and not something I've seen at other restaurants. It is enough soup for two or three people, and comes served in a big bowl/pot. The fried rice here is better than most. It is light, fluffy, not dark brown, and not greasy whatsoever. The Rainbow Fried Rice is the best bet, known as combination fried rice at most places. I have had American-Chinese standards here like sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli, and the like. It's all been good.

I'm a little surprised at some of the other comments people made on here, because I personally had a really great experience at Luo's Peking House recently, but I guess it varies from person to person and what they order. I ordered the crab and cream cheese won tons for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. The texture was perfect, not overdone, and the flavors really blended well for me. I also ordered the Mu Shu Pork which is a personal favorite of mine at any Chinese restaurant, and they had a very good ratio of meat to sauce to vegetables. Their rainbow fried rice and egg flower soup were really great, as well. The only fault I really found was the fact that you cannot order small portions of anything in the restauarant - only for take out or delivery, so you are going to be paying a little more. However, I found all of the prices to be pretty reasonable, the food was authentic, the staff members were friendly, and the place was clean and welcoming. Overall, I had a really nice experience, and until I find better in the Oak Park area, I will be coming back for seconds.

Got home from work last night, starving. Sam need food, fast. It was 8:30 at night and they closed in half an hour. So I picked up the phone and here's how it went: Chinese Woman: Luo's Peking House. Sam: Yes, I'd like to order a take... CW interjects: Credit carr numbah plis. Sam: [Brief silence] No, no, I'd like to order a fried ri.... CW interjects: Credit carr numbah. I need your CREDIT CARR NUMBAH! Sam: Um, can I just order now and pay cash when I'm... CW: Gimme your credit carr numbah, YES??!!!? CREDIT CARR!???! Sam hangs up, sweating. When I'm not ordering takeouts, however, I do like their house special "chow tee," stir-fried noodle with veges and meat of choice. Other than that their usual fare is quite alright. Nothing too stunning. For the price you pay it's alright.

After reading some of these reviews I feel like someone needs to stand up for Luo's. Although it may not be as stylish or flashy as some of the places on Madison street or Lake street, Luo's is one of the best kept secrets in the area. I won't deny that it is kind of a "hole in the wall" that could probably use some interior upgrades, but when it comes to the food it is certainly first rate. With all of the options that exist in Oak Park and Forest Park, my girlfriend and I always find a way to choose Luo's over the rest. This is not only for nostaglic reasons, but also because you will not find better Chinese for miles to come. We always order the same meal: two vegetable egg roles, an order of pot stickers, sweet & sour chicken and finally a side of chicken lo mein (yes, we feast). I have never left dissatisfied, if anything we are already looking forward to our next visit. If you are looking for an upscale Lincoln Park-esque restaurant, turn around. If you want the best Chinese food in the area, don't pass on Luo's!!

Solid Chinese food! Tasty and quick, nothing too fancy. I stick to the apps and soups so I can't really testify to the entrees, but I liked everything I got. It's the not the best food I've had but it's certainly well worth it for the great prices, prompt service, and decent food. If you have a hankering for Chinese, it's my favorite spot in Oak Park.

My favorite Chinese restaurant! I have gone to Luo's Peking House for almost twenty years - both "eat in" and "take out". Highlights: - best hot and sour soup I have found, vegetarian delight, vegetarian egg rolls, and lunch specials. Great food and a good bargain.

Really cheap chinese food here! I would recommend actually going here to eat instead of ordering in.. by the time it gets to you from ordering is pretty cold and gross

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
